David Smith, APRN-FNP has quite the resume to share with his patients.

David started off his career as a registered nurse in 1996 when he graduated from Shoreline Community College in Seattle. David then went on to pursue a Bachelors in Science of Nursing degree from the University of Washington in 2000, but he didn’t stop there! As a single dad, working two jobs (not including clinicals), David continued to pursue his dreams and graduated in 2021 from Frontier Nursing University with a Masters of Science Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

David is Board Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in Family Medicine. He is also a Certified Medical Examiner with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and is certified in both Advanced Cardiac Life Support as well as Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

David has over 15 years of experience as a Board Certified Emergency Department Trauma Nurse and five years of Urgent Care experience. It’s safe to say that he has seen it all and more importantly, David knows exactly how to help his patients.

David also has experience working in the following hospital settings: Cardio/Thoracic ICU, Neuro ICU, Internal Medicine ICU, Orthopedics, Med Surg, Psych, Nephrology/Transplant, Cardiac Stepdown Units and Telemetry. In addition, David has worked in Jail Health, Hospice and Home Care and as a charge nurse at Skilled Nursing Facilities.

David is available as a primary care provider under the Flathead Valley Core Healthcare Co-op and while his office is at Valley Medical Services in Kalispell, he also provides telehealth visits to established patients.

David has three sons and one daughter and also two grandchildren, ages 1 and 2.

David has lived in Columbia Falls for 23 years and takes full advantage of the outdoor experiences in all of Montana’s seasons. David loves to ski, hunt, fish and enjoys whitewater rafting and kayaking in the summer.

We are very thankful to have David in the Core Healthcare Family!
